Where to Stay in Northern Sardinia – Hotels for All Budgets

Angela Corrias in Tharros Sardinia

Angela Corrias

Northern Sardinia is one of the most popular destinations on the island for many reasons. First of all, the coast and beach resorts, but also because it’s packed with archaeological sites (this, thankfully, applies to the whole region), it’s very well organised and equipped with tourist-friendly services and infrastructure, and there are two major airports.

This is why it’s no surprise that so many clients ask me where the best areas and the best hotels to stay in northern Sardinia are. So here are a few accommodation options for all budgets and travel styles across northern Sardinia.

Whether you are staying inside the city, in a small town, or in a farmstay in the countryside, keep in mind that to travel around Sardinia, renting a car is quite mandatory.

Tramas Hotel & Spa, Olbia

Olbia is the most natural base when you are starting a holiday in northern Sardinia. Olbia, in fact, has the largest and busiest airport of this part of the island, connecting Sardinia with the rest of Italy and many other European cities. Olbia is also the favourite landing port to reach the famous beaches of northern Sardinia, take a boat tour, and discover the important archaeological sites of this part of the region.

Tramas Hotel & Spa in Olbia is one of the best places to stay in northern Sardinia because it’s located in the city centre, is equipped with all the most modern facilities and amenities to ensure a comfortable stay, and is well connected to reach everywhere in the city and around it.

Lu Lisandraggiu Farmstay, Olbia

This is actually out of Olbia city and is a fantastic option if you want to relax after a day sightseeing around the region. Staying in this farmstay has the perks of enjoying quiet nights out of the city’s traffic and noise, having a traditional meal with locally sourced ingredients, and staying in nature.

If you decide to stay in a farmstay in the countryside, chances are you want to explore different towns, beaches, and historical sites out of the big cities. In this case, your best bet is to rent a car at the Olbia airport upon arrival (best to book it online before coming) so that you are free in your movements and schedules.

Lu Lisandraggiu farmstay near Olbia in northern Sardinia combines all these perks with cozy rooms and a beautiful garden.

Hotel La Margherita & Spa, Alghero

We stayed here when we went to Alghero for a couple of days and we enjoyed our stay. The hotel is conveniently located near the historic centre that you can easily reach on foot.

Thanks to its unbeatable location near the city centre but not right in the most crowded area and its helpful, English-speaking staff, this is a favourite hotel in Alghero.
